Mi Esperanza means my hope and began in 2002 with a vision to provide life sustaining change in the lives of women in the villages surrounding Tegucigalpa, Honduras. For more than a decade they have elevated women and given them the tools and resources they need to break the cycle of intergenerational poverty. Through Mi Esperanza women are finding a new sense of hope, self empowerment and the stability that is needed to gain control of their future. At the heart of Mi Esperanza lies a desire to see lives changed and they believe that elevating women is the fastest way to change the world.
Mi Esperanza is committed to providing their artisans with a fair wage and a healthy and supportive work environment. Mi Esperanza also provides free skills training to impoverished women who otherwise would not receive an education. Through their courses; sewing, cosmetology, computer skills, and jewelry making, women gain the skills and confidence to seek employment or step out as business owners with the help of Mi Esperanza’s micro-loan program. Many women also choose to become artisans or seamstresses with Mi Esperanza after graduation!
Women once locked into a life of poverty are being empowered to rise above and lives are changing as a result!
